Project Details/Updates

This project will support a number of placemaking activities throughout the Downtown Prescott RiverWalk District, including installations to reshape public engagement and usage, beautified pedestrian spaces through public art installations and greening initiatives, and a renewed wayfinding strategy to attract and retain visitors. Placemaking activities will facilitate the creation of more inclusive and vibrant downtown public spaces for our diverse residents, visitors and businesses.  This will contribute to the vitality of our downtown and businesses.

Project Summary

  • The implementation of a new wayfinding strategy, both to aid in attracting visitors to the RiverWalk District, and to better identify businesses and attractions within the area.
  • The design and installation of an interactive mural to replace concrete barriers presently used to close a former entrance to the main parking lot located in the Downtown, which also houses the Town’s Clock Tower and the main publicly-owned RiverWalk Patio, and serves as a Public Square for seasonal and summer events.
  • Further efforts to better develop a sense of place in the RiverWalk District by expanding on the RiverWalk Patio program to include licensed sidewalk dining.
  • The refurbishment of an extensive public garden that runs along the Canadian Coast Guard base located in the application area, which will provide a connection between the District’s east and west ends.
  • Replacement of downtown traffic poles to upgrade aging infrastructure and enhance downtown aesthetics.
  • Purchase additional amenities & furnishings to further enhance sites like the Pop-Ups, Promenade, and Patios.
  • Construct a new river front patio with seating located at the base of Centre St. adjacent to the deep-water dock/scuba dive park, to provide an additional connection between a main attraction and the Downtown core.
